Mara Álvarez is a writer and multimedia creator with a bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences from ITESO (Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente) and a diploma in Writing for Film and Television from Vancouver Film School.
Over the past thirteen years, she has developed projects in technical writing and photographic production across various industries, as well as coordinated and hosted poetry events in Mexico (Dime Poesía, ITESO, Guadalajara, Jalisco, 2011-2015) and Canada (ROLL, Elysian, Vancouver, B.C., 2025).
Her work is rooted in narrative, using photography and writing as tools to reflect on identity, the concept of home as both a physical and symbolic space, and the pathways—whether through rituals or choices—that shape our lives. Her photography has been exhibited in group shows such as Conciencia (Gató Café, Guadalajara, 2014), Sensoria (Casa ITESO Clavigero, Guadalajara, 2015), and Joy is (Vancouver, 2017).
